GSI Commerce Hires James Flanagan as Senior Vice President of Human Resources

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., April 26, 2004 – GSI Commerce Inc. (NASDAQ: GSIC), has hired James Flanagan, 43, to the newly created post of senior vice president of Human Resources. Flanagan, an HR executive with more than 18 years experience, will report to Michael Rubin, chairman and CEO of the company.

“The creation of a new, executive-level human resources leadership position is a natural step in the evolution and growth of our company,” said Rubin. “Our growth strategy requires that we invest in attracting, developing, rewarding and retaining the industry’s best talent. Jim brings the perfect set of skills and experience to help us accomplish those goals,” said Rubin.

Prior to joining GSI Commerce, Flanagan served in human resources leadership positions for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Bank of America, HomeGrocer.com and Starbucks Coffee Company. Most recently at Starwood, he headed human resources for the Stars and Brands division, which included technology, marketing, distribution, revenue management, and Web and call centers.

Flanagan also brings strong experience and passion for working in high-growth, entrepreneurial companies from his work at HomeGrocer.com and Starbucks. While at Starbucks, Flanagan led the HR effort for North America helping the company to grow from 400 stores to more than 2,200.

Flanagan earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Villanova University. He is married with three children and is relocating to the King of Prussia, Pa. area.
