GSI Commerce Wins CIO 100 Award

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Aug. 16, 2004 – GSI Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIC) announced today it has won a 2004 CIO 100 award sponsored by CIO magazine. The annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology.

Agility was the theme of this year’s awards and recognized those executives and organizations that responded quickly to changing business environments. Award winners were selected based on results that showed how their company used information technology to enable and support agility in their organization.

“With the economy rebounding, companies will seek out and capitalize on new opportunities as they emerge,” says Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief, CIO. “Those best positioned to succeed are the agile enterprises, able to move and change quickly; to create advantage in a world in flux. This year’s CIO 100 winners have all the hallmarks: agile operations, technology, staffing and governance models. We celebrate their achievements and expect to see great things from them in the years ahead.”

“At the core of GSI Commerce’s e-commerce platform is an integrated hub of proprietary and best-of-breed technology components that supports the online shopping, fulfillment and customer service demands of some of the largest online retail businesses in the United States. This recognition from CIO magazine is a tribute to our employees, who adapt daily to the new challenges presented by this business, and to our partners who demand continuing excellence from our solution,” said Joseph Seibert, senior vice president and chief information officer for GSI Commerce.

The 2004 CIO 100 Awards will be presented at The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 24 during the sixth annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.

About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year’s CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their agile practices in both business and IT. Next, teams of CIO magazine editors and writers reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, the teams met for a day-long meeting to debate the merits of each nominee and vote on the final 100. To provide a vision of ever-changing business trends, the focus of the CIO 100 changes annually. Complete coverage of the 2004 CIO 100 Awards is featured in the Aug. 15 issue of CIO magazine and at www.cio.com.
